Jim Morrison Art

Personal, non-commercial artwork of the iconic Jim Morrison
Jim Morrison artwork referenced from the famous 1967 photo by Joel Brodsky. This is a non-commercial piece that I did for purely personal reasons.. Please respect the rights of the Morrison estate and the photographer.

I did this piece after working extensively on Jimi Hendrix tee shirt designs. I wanted to do an iconic portrait of Jim Morrison using minimal colors and very sharp lines. I drew out each vector line in Adobe Illustrator.  After doing this piece, I've been inspired to use this style and it shows in my work for Oakley and many of the personal pieces that I've worked on after doing this one.

What I like about this piece is that it has given me a focus on my work--I would love to create iconic pieces that become symbols themselves: much like this famous photo or other iconic symbols like Warhol's Marylin or the often parodied Che Gueverra photo.
